Britney Spears, Pepsi click with AOL - e-Watch - Brief
Article
NEW YORK -- Britney Spears has guzzled
Pepsi in television ads and now she will be sipping soda online. AOL Time Warner
is hooking up with the pop princess to promote her Pepsi-sponsored spring tour
in all of its divisions, including its flagship America Online service and AOL
Music sites. Tour dates, photos, backstage footage and even a concert contest,
with the winner flown to New York City for a four-day stay and tickets to
Spears' July 6 performance at the New Jersey Meadowlands also will be offered
online at AOL. This agreement is not the first time Spears has worked with AOL
Time Warner, the world's biggest media company. Last fall, America Online was an
Internet destination for the star's advance ticket sales for her fall tour. In
other AOL news, the ISP also has inked a deal with Miami-based iDine Rewards
Network, formerly Transmedia Network. Through the agreement, AOL will create AOL
Dining, which offers rewards to its subscribers whenever they dine at one of the
7,500 participating restaurants. The rewards are then used toward customers'
current AOL subscription fee. The free AOL Dining program is in the same vein as
reward programs available through AOL in conjunction with other companies,
including American Airlines and American Express.
